GEGE NEEDS UNITED OFFICERS, ELECTORATES

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

As a large constituency with 11 chiefdoms indeed Gege is one of the biggest in the country. I always say this constituency should be divided into two.

The Elections and Boundaries Commission, headed by Chief Gija, once stated that the commission would start the project of assessing the need to increase the number of constituencies, though I am not sure how far along they went with that. As per His Majesty’s directive for us to go out there and vote, Gege constituents did that.

We complied as usual and voted for officers we believed would help us, those who would put our interests ahead of theirs, who wouldn’t rush to buy cars and instead choose to serve their respective constituencies.

They should not shine their shoes and smile all the way to the bank yet they are failing the people. They won’t fight to implement laws or circulars which only benefit them. I want to say this constituency needs united people. Swazis, I want to say you must learn to know that in order to be successful one should have some form of political education.

A number of constituencies are not successful because you find that a member of Parliament doesn’t see eye to eye with the Headman simply because perhaps they were running against each other during the race to become MP. How can you then expect them to work properly with each other?

We don’t want this in Gege, we need to politically educated and give each other the necessary support. Give blame only where it is due and understand that the officers will be there for that duration of time. I repeat it is important for us to be politically educated as the electorate and once that is done the country will go far.

Umusa waVuki.
