ABORTION IS AN INEXCUSABLE SIN

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

It is an age-old, contentious and one of the most controversial social issues which has caused serious discord between individuals, families, communities, governments, as well as many religious bodies, for as long as one can remember.

This is non-other than the since time immemorial, contested ‘legitimacy’ or otherwise, of the act of terminating a pregnancy as a result of varying reasons, by a woman. Proponents of this immoral practice call it a “legitimate right” of woman and argue that women should have a free choice to terminate pregnancy. Others...well, call it in no uncertain terms, (premeditated?) murder.

It would be prudent and foresightful of us in this country, (where some local, political and religious leaders of questionable, religious inclinations, never fail to tell any one who cares to listen, that we are the pulpit of Africa, whatever that means) to carefully and meticulously think things over, before we take rash decisions that we may regret in the long-run, on the subject of abortion.

Christian kingdom

It is common knowledge that, as a country, we superficially profess to be a Christian kingdom, when sadly, the opposite is mostly true. In  light of the growing or mounting calls from even some respected quarters - some of whom have come out in support of the legalising, or at the very least, calling for a vigorous debate over this issue, which, in my opinion, is a dastardly and morally wrong act - it is imperative that we carefully apply our minds over this confrontational abortion issue and avoid falling into the spiritually fatal trap of being at odds with and the violation of God’s commandments.

Since this is an issue that touches on the right to life of an unborn, innocent soul, I will also join the fray and offer my own two cent’s worth of opinion on the subject. Let me put it succinctly clear that my stance is premised from a Christian perspective.
