POWER OF POSSIBILITY THINKING

LIFE is too short to embrace negativity, fear and small thinking. The answer to our future as individuals, families, communities and nation lies outside the confinements that we are presently experiencing. All things are possible; we must refuse to embrace the word impossible.

Marabeau once responded with aggression when he heard the word impossible, “Never let me hear that foolish word again.” As a matter of fact all things are possible until they are proved impossible. Actually someone else somewhere is doing something that someone else said it’s impossible to do. In order to move forward in life and implement vision we must develop the capacity to ignore what others think can’t be done. You will never know to what heights you could soar, until you decide to spread your wings of creativity beyond what others think.

Oscar Wilde said, “Moderation is a fatal thing, nothing succeeds like excess.” Yes in the world of dreams, vision, innovation and creativity, moderation is fatal. Life is so full of rich possibilities to have restrictions placed upon it. Thinking only about our present measurable moment, limits and puts restrictions on us in terms of the unlimited possibilities of the future. Hellen Keller said, “Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” We must therefore choose to embrace the attitude of possibilities. Every accomplishment starts with a decision to believe that all things are possible until proved otherwise.

Herbert Pronchnow said, “There is a time when we must firmly choose the course which we will follow, or the relentless drift of events will make a decision for us.” Decisions are important in the pursuit of purpose and vision, and embracing the mentality of possibility. Decision is defined as,’ the act of making up your mind about something. Decision is the trait of resoluteness as evidenced by firmness of character or purpose.

David Ambrose once said, “If you have the will to win, you have achieved half your success; if you don’t, you have achieved half your failure.” Indecision is the enemy of whatever is possible to achieve. When you are decisive about something, no form of obstacle or excuses will stop you. Actually you create opportunities for success by being decisive. Indecisiveness is the enemy of possibility.
Possibility is defined as, ‘the quality or state of being possible, the power of happening, being or existing.’ Possibility is the future prospect or potential for something to happen or exist.

The mentality of possibility demands that we dare to do things that feel or look impossible to achieve. Achieving great things requires taking risks and confronting hazardous situations. A vision or dream that does not once in a while cause one to risk is not really big or great enough to live or die for. All successful people once took risks and made courageous decisions in the midst of adversity. As human beings we enjoy playing it safe; yet to embrace the mentality or attitude of possibility demands that we be willing to do what people say couldn’t be done,  and learn how to take risks. Risk is defined as a source of danger and a possibility of incurring loss or misfortune. Risk is a venture undertaken without regard to possible loss or injury, and completely focused on the results or rewards.

Fear and doubt are enemies of possibility thinking. Fear paralysis creative thinking and immobilises innovation. Fear causes us to be uneasy and apprehensive about embarking on certain projects or business. We will never move forward in life if we embrace fear. Fear is a wicked device that has caused many visions and dreams not to see the light of day. Doubt like fear causes many to waver and be uncertain in their dealings.
To doubt is to waver in opinion or judgment, to be uncertain, to hesitate in belief and action, to be undecided as to truth of the negative or the affirmative proposition, and to be undetermined. To doubt is to possess a fluctuating mind and an unsettled state of opinion concerning the outcome of something. Embracing the mindset of possibility demands that we focus on the positive outcome, the rewards and benefits of our endeavors rather than just focusing on the failures.
Doubt destroys confidence and neutralises determination. Determination is key to achieving something in life. As a matter of fact determination always produces firmness of purpose and focus. Determination will carry us through the battles of life and build in us unshakable faith to finish whatever we have started. All achievers possess the traits of determination and faith.
Possibility thinking is faith in action. It brings assurance about things not yet seen or experienced, and creates hope for success. It is therefore imperative for individuals, families, communities and nations to embrace the attitude of possibility in order to see visions, plans and dreams come to pass in spite of adversity.
