MISS INDEPENDENT!

Money is the answer to almost anything in this universe and in this era, and yes, it is an undeniable fact that money is needed by almost all people, of different races, gender, ethnicity and in other ways.

Also, students need money to survive the ‘independence’ that comes with being in tertiary.
Before attaining that diploma, degree, honours degree, masters, PhD, money is fundamental in every aspect.

To be more specific, for one to survive while studying they need ample allowances and that is not very possible for many and some have even resorted to ‘other’ ways of making money.

UNISWA student Lindelwa Ngwe-nya opted to establish a line in fashion designing called Lindsay’s Apparel Palace, and she is coining it from her line!

The beauty has even ventured into makeup artistry in which she is immensely growing. Lindelwa denies being broke!!!
“Actually, it is a norm that with university, the sponsor gives us an allowance which does not last the whole academic year. In this, I saw an opportunity and decided to use my hands to make extra money.
“It is quite challenging to juggle school work and seam stressing while doing face beats but it is even more challenging to be broke! I would rather be fatigues than not try,” said Lindelwa.
The former Sifundzani pupil from Mbabane is not just a pretty face but she is a hard worker and she loves it.
GCWALA has a quick one-on-one with the versatile Lindelwa at Solanis Lounge in Mbabane and this is what we learnt about her and her optimistic spirit.

What course did you enrol in and what motivated it?
Bsc. Textile Apparel Design and Management and my love for fashion landed me here since there was no local fashion school and this could offer me building blocks to my career path.

What are the perks of being a student and not having extra money?
Being a student and not having enough money to feed you and sustain you is very challenging, which has resulted in students engaging in other practices just to make ends meet. It is a painful experience, especially to those who have unemployed families because survival will mean not eating right but enough to pass a day. Another problem of less money is the inability to invest in something profitable.
