MBABANE – Nobody knows whether the Miss Swaziland 2014/15 Beauty Pageant will be held this year.

This event lies in limbo following a decision by the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) to stop all preparations that have got to do with the pageant.

This follows reports that outgoing queen Samukelisiwe Magagula allegedly sent emails to the organisers trying to leverage a way to take part in the Miss World Beauty Pageant,

The pageant was expected to take place next month, with scouts earnestly looking for contestants to fit the bill.
The scouting started in July and continued until the Reed Dance ceremony.

Beautiful

But for some strange reason, the country’s most beautiful girls have not been unveiled to the public as yet.
The pageant, which  is one of major events under the SNCAC, is usually held between October and November every year.
The Council had already slotted the event into its calendar and had been involved in a series of meetings with the Swaziland Beauty Pageant Association (SBPA) and Miss Swaziland Beauty Pageant Director Thandeka Matse.

But they decided to put an immediate halt to the preparations for both the local pageant and the Miss World, and instructed the SBPA to investigate the matter and submit a fully detailed report as soon as possible.
CEO of SNCAC Stanley Dlamini confirmed that the staging of the Miss Swaziland Beauty Pageant this year was uncertain after allegations that the current beauty queen intended to forge her way to the Miss World Beauty Pageant.

Investigate

“I asked SBPA to investigate the matter and come up with a full report. Once we have received the report, it is then that we can start talking about the next pageant.”
Dlamini said to continue to plan a Miss Swaziland event would not work for now as he had no idea what SBPA report would say.
“As of now, I can say that the hosting of the pageant is in limbo. The only time when we will have proper answers would be after the report has been finalised.”

Tony Dlamini, SBPA President could not be reached for comment. He was called several times yesterday, but could not be reached as his phone rang unanswered.
