ARTISTS ACCUSED OF NEGOTIATING DEALS BEHIND ACASWA’S BACK

MBABANE – Gospel artists have been accused of negotiating performance deals behind ACASWA’s back.
ACASWA is an acronym for the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland.

As a result, the association has blasted the artists for not involving it when negotiating with event organisers and companies for performance fees.
The association has made an example of the upcoming Swaziland International Trade Fair with claims that some artists have been paying a visit to some of the organisers negotiating that they be added on this year’s only Gospel Sunday line-up.

This has not gone down well with the association which is the mother body of all Christian artists in the country.
The executive, committee led by Mhlonishwa Motsa, has since warned artists to stop the act as they say in as far as they are concerned, it is bad behaviour.

The association alleges that they have been informed by some of the compare spectators who were complaining about some of the artist’s approach each time they come for negotiations.

Handling

Ronnie Dlamini, ACASWA Public Relations Officer said they were not pleased with the way some of the artists were handling their negotiations.
“We are aware that some of the artists have been negotiating with the Trade Fair organisers asking that they be part of the list of artists to perform during the Gospel Sunday. For us we feel what they are doing is wrong,” he said.

Dlamini said what they were failing to understand is that it is the same artists that elected them to be in the office and act on their behalf.
“It then surprises us when we discover that such is happening. It pains us because we spend so much time sitting in a round table and negotiate for the same artists. This is indeed not a good thing and it should come to an end,” he said.

He said they would soon be calling the artists to a meeting where the matter would be addressed.
“This is a matter that needs to be addressed soon because it will be a problem for the artists themselves in the near future,” he said.
Most of the artists who were called yesterday asked not to comment on the matter saying they will wait for the meeting where they will be in a position of deliberating the matter.
