All set for Old Mutual Choral MUSIC Festival

MBABANE - All is set for the Old Mutual Choral Music Festival Compe-tition which begins on Sunday.

The competition will be held at Esibayeni Lodge. The four choirs that would be competing for the first position which has a prize money worth E10 000 include Correctional Services Choir, Manzini Choir, Harmonious and Mbabane Methodist Choir.The winners are expected to take part in the finals to be held in Durban in December this year. 

Sithembiso Dlamini, Secretary General of the Swaziland Choral Music Association said the preparations for the event were already at an advanced stage and they were now waiting for the day of the competition. “The choirs have indicated that they are ready for the competition as they got all the songs on time. We are positive that the event will be one of the best,” he said.

Dlamini said they made sure that the choirs were given all the rules of the competition in time in order for them not to have difficulties on the day of the competition. “We believe this year would be the best competition. We invite the public to come in numbers as we will be witnessing the local choirs displaying real choral music,” he said. The competition will have two categories being the Standard and the Large Section.

The winners of the first, second and third positions will walk away with, E10 000, E9 000 and E8 000 in the large category while standard category winners can expect to win E8 000, E7 000 and E6 000 for the same positions.
