Gospel artists race for parliament

MBABANE – Khanyisile, wife to gospel artist Mzwakhe Myeni is among the gospel artists who have since joined the race of going to parliament.


Khanyisile who is also a former member of the country’s leading gospel group Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors will be competing for the seat of Manzini North MP.
Khanyisile was nominated on Sunday morning.  She joins a number of gospel artists who have been nominated in various areas around the country.
Other artists who have been nominated include Frans Dlamini, who was nominated at Nhlambeni,  Timothy Myeni, at Lubulini, Nomalungelo ‘LaZwide’ Simelane, at Siphofaneni,  Apostle Freddy Msimange at Manzini South, Sdumo Ndwandwe of Sdumo and the Hambanathi Jericho who was nominated from the Mhlangatane MP position.


Also nominated was Samson Nkhambule of Incola Yomlilo gospel group who will be vying for the Manzini North MP position.
Interviewed yesterday morning, Khanysile confirmed that she would be standing for the upcoming elections.
“When I attended the nomination process, I had intended to nominate someone else. However, someone just decided to nominate me. The nomination came as a surprise. However, after being nominated, I took the challenge as I felt the people of Manzini North have faith in me,” she said.


She said given the chance of being an MP, she would definitely make sure that  she assists the people of the constituency accordingly.
“I have taken up the challenge that has been placed before me. Since they believe in me, I have to respect that and do as required.  At the end of the day, it is the people’s decision as they are the ones who decide who they want to send to parliament,” she said.


Meanwhile her husband, Mzwakhe said since the people of Manzini North have asked her to join the race to parliament, he would definitely support her.
“I will give her the needed support. I believe in her potential. Since the people of Manzini North have spoken, I will make sure she listens to their voice and act according to their wish,” he said.


Confirming


Also confirming that he had been nominated was Apostle Freddy Msimango who said he was more than ready to stand for the elections.
“I believe they have seen my potential and that is the reason why they saw it proper that I stand for the elections. I am ready to serve if they give me the opportunity of doing so,” he said.
Meanwhile Frans Dlamini said he believes the people of Nhlambeni have faith in him and it was the reason why they believe he has to go back to parliament.


“I do not have a problem of going to parliament especially if I have been sent by the people of Nhlambeni. I respect them and that is the reason why I do not have a problem going to parliament,” he said.
Meanwhile Sdumo Ndwandwe said he was more than ready to be Mhlangatane MP.


“Since they have nominated me, I will definitely stand for the elections. I am more than ready to face any of the challenges that may come before me as I take up this challenge,” he said.
