DPM pledges support for Gospel artist

MBABANE – Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Masuku has pledged to assist local gospel artist Gcinumuzi Magongo in his music endeavours.
Magongo is a new gospel artist who has dreams of prospering in the industry and has recently introduced his clothing label that he hopes to promote before launching it.

The DPM fell in love with the artist’s music and promised to offer his help to Magongo and for this reason, the artist presented a token of appre-ciation to the DPM in a form of a picture and a cup.
At the end of March this year, the artist released an album titled, ‘Holy Jesus’ featuring 12 songs. It was recorded at Dem Dem Music Production and the sleeve was designed by M7 Production, which is a new local company.
The album is dominated by worship songs but includes jazz and high tempo tracks as well. The artist has performed in many events around the country as a means of promo-ting himself, he has also performed with South African gospel artist S’fiso Ncwane during a concert held at the Mavuso Trade Centre.
"It is an honour for me to have the DPM show so much interest in my work. I am looking forward to working with him on a number of outreach projects. I just have to get my album out there," he said.
Magongo said at the moment he is preparing for a music and label launch. He said this will run concurrently so as to blend the two perfectly.
"Once my album is out there and my label is marketed well, I will start to focus on other sponsorship programmes," he said. The artist is currently raising funds to shoot a music DVD for his latest album, he sells products including mugs, round neck, golf t-shirts and water bottles.
