BIG BEND – Over 500 people attended DJ Mfundo’s birthday celebration on Friday night at Lituba Lodge in Big Bend featuring DJ Tira and kwaito star Bhar.

As per the norm, the much celebrated award winning South African music guru DJ Tira known for his incredible work as the founder of the Afrotainment stable which is home to the award winning Big Nuz drew an above average crowd.

The show was definitely worth the trip away from the common venues which people seem to be drifting away from judging from the way fun lovers have started enjoying outdoor and intimate venues.

The show started in the afternoon at around 4pm and saw acts including DJs Crooks, Kish, South African based Rex and the birthday boy DJ Mfundo to name a few. DJ Tira took to the stage at around 2pm and made his entry with the award winning track by South Africa’s Mi-Casa titled ‘These Streets’ which captured the attention of most attendants who before his set chanted his name.

The South African star started his four and half hour set with a rather deep, slower tempo but later picked up the pace as he was joined by the newly signed veteran kwaito star Bhar who was also not performing in the country for the first time after the successful show hosted by Real Entertainment at Mavuso Sports Café featuring Big Nuz and L’vovo.

Together, the Afrotainment Durbanites performed tracks like ‘I-party yema’couple’ which is the first single from his latest album, ‘4000’ and ‘Sting ray’ to name a few. Bhar shared the stage with DJ Tira for about over an hour before stepping aside to give Tira the main stage to do what he does best and try perform until 7am as he normally announces and says ‘sizolala ngo7’.

Tiras’ performance cut short

Big Bend – Police cut DJ Tira’s set short after they felt attendants were starting to misbehave.

Known for his incredible trend of playing until 7am or later, the star unfortunately could not play longer than he wanted to as the event was cut short at about 6.30am. This was after police felt that patrons were starting to get rowdy as the party started at 4pm the day before.

"Unfortunately we had to cut the event short because patrons were starting to act wild and the police were concerned about everyone’s safety. Tira wanted to play longer and was disappointed when the night had to be cut short," said DJ Mfundo.

Evident enough of the misconduct that was slowly erupting, a patron who referred to himself as Sicelo Kunene was injured after a very unnecessary fight which took place outside the main arena.

He said a white male attendant found them hanging around the braai area and pulled out a gun at him and his friends, kicking a braai stand which was selling braaied chicken.

"He walked to us and said he owned the venue then pulled out a gun at us, kicking the braai stand in the process. The braai stand hit me in my leg. He did not explain what we had done and we were also very puzzled about the reason he did such to my friends and I," said the very disappointed and limping fun lover.

Bhar to launch album

Big Bend – Bhar will be coming back to launch his album in Swaziland with Real Entertainment.

This was confirmed by both Bhar and Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini who said they were yet to confirm all the details about the show. Bhar said he was very happy about the reception that they always received in Swaziland and would definitely be coming to launch his alum in the kingdom which features his latest single title ‘I-party yema’couple which has been on high rotation on most music channels including Channel O and MTV Base to name a few.

"We will be working with Melusi for the Swazi launch of my album. We are yet to confirm all the details regarding the venue, date and supporting acts if any. All will be revealed once everything has been confirmed," said Bhar.
