Makhabane to bring US's Donnie McClurkin next year
MBABANE - American gospel star, Donnie McClurkin has been earmarked for a historic performance in the kingdom next August.
This was confirmed by popular gospel singer, Sipho Makha-bane, in an interview with the Times Entertainment Desk.
"We are definitely going big in 2011 and plans are underway to bring Donnie McClurkin to the country," he said.
Makhabane confirmed he will be flying to the United States between late February and early March to finalise the arrangements for the show. He revealed that he had engaged the artist’s management, from as far back as a couple of months ago, regarding the show. "I will fly out to the States in two months time, to finalise everything with Donnie’s manager to ensure there are no problems closer to the date," he said.
Makhabane said Donnie will most likely perform at the annual Joyous Celebration concert, which he hosts every August at the Mavuso Trade Centre. He also said during his trip, he will not only finalise the Donnie deal, but will also be meeting with other popular gospel artists, who he hopes to add to the list of performers on the night.
Passion
McClurkin is one of the most recognisable faces on the international gospel scene and most recently caused panick among gospel music lovers when he announced he would at any moment cease making music and concentrate fully on his passion for ministering. ‘We all are One’, his first recording in five years, features momentous collaborations with international gospel heavyweights including Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary and Karen Clark-Sheard, among many others.
