MBABANE - The Population Service Information (PSI) has joined forces with the local entertainment scene for a new radio show titled ‘Trust Kwaito show’ on SBIS 2.

The show, which will start airing this Saturday evening, is part of PSI’s celebration of 10 years experience of the Trust condom brand.

PSI’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Bongiwe Zwane said they saw it suitable to partner with the entertainment industry because their target audience mainly consists of young individuals who are attracted by exciting and entertaining issues.

"Young people are vulnerable to a number of dangerous issues which need to be addressed on a continuous basis. As PSI celebrates 10 years of experience with the Trust condom brand, we want to emphasise on sexual abstinence or the use of condoms at all times. The month of December is a crucial one that requires everyone to be careful about what they engage themselves in and there is no better way to educate and caution our target market other than through entertainment," she said.

The four-week radio show is expected to deliberate on issues concerning HIV/AIDS and behavioural change among young people.

"Since our main objective is to educate and get the views of our targeted market and talk about the challenges they face each and every day which they’re afraid of discussing with their parents or guidance, the show has been set to be as interactive as possible. SMS lines and the popular networking site, Facebook will be used as the main communication mediums," explained Zwane.

Partnered

The Facebook group name of the show is called ‘The Trust Love’ group and the SMS line will be announced during the show.

Sthembile ‘Superphly’ Vilane from SBIS and Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini from Real Entertainment will be the hosts.

On the other hand, MMN Entertainment who have also partnered with the organisation will be hosting the ‘Battle of the Deejays’ competition from tomorrow to December 23, and PSI has taken the opportunity to educate the those who will be attending the competitions.

"We have seen this competition as another chance to reach to our audience because it is by no doubt that a number of them will wish to experience it. This means the PSI team will be there throughout the whole competition period as we will be given a few minutes to interact and educate the participants and audience of the competition," she said.

MMN Entertainment is under the directorship of Sanele Lukhele and Lucky Ndzimandze who is widely known as DJ Khwephe.
