MBABANE – The Hhohho Arts Centre will have drama and dance school festival auditions in preparation for the upcoming KwaZulu World Carnival set for South Africa.

The KwaZulu World Carnival is an initiative aimed at celebrating culture and will be hosted in Durban on May 25. According to Hhohho Arts Officer Nokwanda Masimula, during the event, there will be 12 countries that will come together to celebrate their culture including their dances, food and more.

Auditions

“The auditions will be held at Pigg’s Peak Gobolondlo Hall and Buhleni Plaza. The Pigg’s peak auditions will be held at Gobolondlo Hall on May 2 from 9am to 3pm. The following auditions which will be held at Buhleni Plaza, will be on May 3 and will also start from 9am to 3pm. Worth mentioning is the fact that anyone can join the auditions,” she said.

During an interview with this publication, Masimula highlighted the importance of the auditions citing that they offer benefits for performers. “Auditions are a vital part of any performance or production and offer a number of benefits for both the performers and the production team. For performers, auditions provide an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents, and to gain experience in the audition process.

They also offer a chance to network and make connections with other performers, directors and production staff. For the production team, auditions allow them to see a wide range of talent and identify the best performers for each role. They also provide an opportunity to assess the chemistry between performers and identify any potential issues that may need to be,” she said.

Turnout

She went on to encourage people to join the auditions citing that the trip can change their lives. “The auditions will provide a pool of talent from which we will choose the best performers for the trip. Without a strong turnout, it can be difficult to find the right performers for each role during the carnival in South Africa. People should join the auditions because their lives might change for the better since the carnival will be attended by prominent people around Africa.

Another important aspect is that they will be able to network with other experienced players from drama and dance. This is a big chance for everyone who feels like they want to make the most of achievements this year so make sure you show up in your numbers during the auditions,” Masimula said.
