‘NEW TEAM’ STALLS LITTLE MISS PAGEANT
Mbabane - The wait for a new team has stalled the Little Miss Eswatini pageant from going forward.
Early this year, Pageants Eswatini was on a quest to find a new team to host Little Miss Eswatini and to date the team has not been formed, causing a stall on the pageant. One of the team members from Pageants Eswatini, Musa Mantinto, said they had no way forward with regards to the pageant as they needed to start with the formation of the team to forsee the pageant.
When asked if they were still going to host Little Miss Eswatini this year, Mantinto said this publication was unfortunate as it would not get a confirmation.
Confirmation
“Unfortunately you won’t get the confirmation, we are assembling a new team for all pageants and once the team has been assembled, we will then have a way forward,” he said. Little Miss Eswatini is a relatively new addition to the pageant industry, with its inaugural event taking place in December 2019. The first winner of the pageant was Shakira Mamba, who gracefully passed on the crown to Alaiza Mohammed in 2022. The primary objective of Little Miss Eswatini is not solely focused on beauty, but rather on empowering children and boosting their self-confidence. The pageant strives to cultivate a sense of unity and encourage mutual support among participants, aiming for a brighter future.
Collaborates
Beyond the glitz and glamour, Little Miss Eswatini actively collaborates with child welfare agencies and seeks partnerships with policymakers, community leaders and financial institutions such as Standard Bank. These collaborations aim to enhance the well-being of children and their families, emphasising that the pageant is about much more than just physical appearance. Pageants Eswatini is the national organisation responsible for the development, promotion and protection of the beauty pageant industry in the Kingdom of Eswatini. This organisation operates under the authority delegated by the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) within the Ministry of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs.
Involving
Pageants Eswatini oversees the organisation of national pageants involving participants from the administrative regions of the kingdom, namely Lubombo, Shiselweni, Manzini and Hhohho.
