Performers

The music genre reached Britain through recordings and performers who visited the country while it was a relatively new genre, soon after the end of World War I. Jazz began to be played by British musicians from the 1930s and on a widespread basis in the 1940s, often within dance bands. The Lobatse born musician said that one of his dreams had always been to take his music out of Gaborone and thrill Jazz lovers in other parts of the world. He will present a few solo pieces during the show. “I have always wanted to share my music not just locally but internationally as well,” he said. Kabo Leburu is an artist from Botswana who fuses indigenous rhythms with a touch of Jazz and classically inspired finger-picking to come up with a unique ground breaking sound.
