LOCAL ARTIST TRENDS FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH’S PORTRAIT
MBABANE – Thembinkosi Mabuza, a creative sketch artist trended on social media after posting a sketch of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The artist posted the sketch on Thursday on Facebook and Instagram. The drawing of Queen Elizabeth II , saw many compliment the details of the sketch and the very intricate trivia. Through this work he mentioned that he was ‘paying’ homage to the late Queen and because the only gift he could offer was from his pencil, he did what he knew best. Eswatini is no stranger to creative talent as the country houses many gifted individuals, who express themselves through various art forms from the likes of Malwande Simelane and Lindani Mdluli just to name a few. The comments that the artist received can be split between downright praise and cheeky responses and this is not the first time the talented young star trended for his work. Just over two months ago, he was praised for his sketches of the Inkabi Nation members, particularly Big Zulu.

Mabuza was also a hot topic of discussion on social media for a feature on South African (SA) News; which is a SA online news publication for what’s trending. He was also on the radar of Botswana Magazine for his work and was approached for an interview about his work. It was his first article feature, across the border. This in turn opened the door for him to be featured by World Celebrity Magazine which will be published on October 3, this year. When reached for comment Mabuza said “This has exposed me to the international market, as I will be featured on World Celebrity Magazine which is in Europe. To say I am blessed would be an understatement, I am very grateful.”
