MBABANE - Funny man Dr. Shakes has been announced as Castle Lager Eswatini  brand influencer by the alcohol brand this past weekend.

The news was officially published on Castle’s official page, which saw Facebook users send congratulatory messages to the comedian. Born Bongikhosi Dlamini, he’s been in the comedy scene in the kingdom for a while now and has definitely been making the right moves. The Mbabane born and raised funny man ventured into comedy professionally back in 2014, performing at the Evangelical Church in Mbabane. Dlamini also had gigs at the then Finesse Restaurant also in Mbabane.

“His ability to bring people together and entertain them has left thousands in stitches! We are happy to announce Dr. Shakes as our brand influencer,” read the post by the alcohol brand. Dlamini was also interviewed by the alcohol brand  after the news broke and the comedian shared  about his journey  and how he felt about the new partnership. He spoke about his first show titled ‘Shots fired’ which trended for over two weeks after it took place, it opened a lot of the doors for the comedian. This is when he realised that he could make a career for himself out of his talent. Dlamini mentioned that one thing that made the show very popular was the title, which implied that he would be firing shots (disses) and no one was safe.

  Definition of brand influencer

A brand influencer is an individual chosen by a particular brand to bridge the gap between them and their consumers. Because of  advertisement  fatigue brands have seen that people are influenced by sociable individuals that they know and follow. This is one of the fresher marketing strategies by brands to reach wider audiences. These individuals are chosen by their credibility social media presence and amount of following. Also people who are innovative are usually selected. Castle Lager is a South African beer that has been said to have the ability to unite communities with a common cause. The premium lager has sponsored numerous initiatives from sporting teams and has a huge following in the whole of Africa.
