MBABANE - Feeding the nation!

Sifiso Ndlangamandla popularly known as Illa Penboy has given away a total of 850 food parcels students from various universities namely, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Ngwane Teachers Training College, University of Eswatini and Luyengo campuses. Ndlangamandla saw the need to land a helping hand after the Eswatini Government had not allocated allowances on May 2, 2022 like they had promised. This initiative took off on May 18,  at the University of Eswatini, where he cooked and served students with 350 food parcels over two days. Through his Donate E10 Campaign, which is a foundation that operates to feed destitute children and families that rely on national care point, which is a help towards hunger, he managed to aid all these struggling young adults.

When reached for comment, Ndlangamandla expressed his concern about the student’s plight, also because the students are the very ones who support his organisation when they have the means. He’s made it his sole purpose to help end the lack of basic needs in Eswatini. The artist is always encouraging others to do so and also donate. This initiative to help students will be an ongoing campaign, only when there is a need because most of these university students have been paid. Following a petition delivered by the Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS) May 3, 2022 to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. However, they had managed to release allowances for only a select few of first-year students with a vast majority of them still expecting their allowances.

A Facebook user praised Ndlangamandla, saying that there was a great blessing waiting for the philanthropist because of the great work he’s doing. A student based at Kwaluseni, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “We are very thankful to Ndlangamandla and those who are contributing for us to have something to eat. May God richly bless them,”
Illa Penboy reemphasised his commitment. “We are trying to reach out where we can, helping where it is needed. We want to spread the spirit of standing up when there is a need and helping the needy. We further appeal to individuals and companies to donate at least E10. We want to feed them until they are sorted” added Ndlangamandla. He said he has received a donation of 30 packs of 5kg chicken portions from Umbuluzi Valley Sales. Ndlangamandla is a man of many talents and aspirations and one of his talents is rapping. He recently released a single ‘Vula Bavalile’.
