MBABANE – Who designs the best brands in Eswatini?

Fashion remains to be a big contributor to our entertainment industry to date. emaSwati have proven to be supportive to this industry, by showing up to fashion events. In light of this Eswatini Clothing Brands (ECBA) Team Lindani Simelane (Founder), Ayanda Nxumalo (Managing Director) and Busisizwe Ndzimandze (Marketing Manager) have decided to host the Eswatini Clothing Brands awards on July 2, 2022 at Theater Club Mbabane. The awards aim is to recognise upcoming local clothing brands, labels that have excelled in the fashion industry of Eswatini and outside the country. It was initiated by TGMR, another local clothing brand in the year 2017.

When reached for comment Ayanda Nxumalo who’s the Managing Director said they are looking forward to the awards. “We would love to thank Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Eswatini and Eswatini National Youth Council who sponsored us in our last event before COVID-19 which went a long way,” said Nxumalo. When reached for comment Denise Fined from KFC confirmed their sponsorship with the last event. “The last event was successful and we were really impressed with their professionalism,” said Fined. She went on to say the last awards show was well attended. Nxumalo mentioned that with the help of the sponsors they managed to host different workshops around the country where they teach all young entrepreneurs how to manage a business and inspire them to be young professionals.

He went to say that they also donate to different charity organisations in the country and assist some children with settling their school fees and get them school uniforms and more.
The main motive of the company is to help unknown local clothing brands and designers to be identified and known in the fashion industry. Nxumalo went on to say the main goal is to have a clothing shop where all local clothing brands and local designers will provide their items making it easy for the public to purchase them. He also mentioned that in a year they host three workshops from Mbabane, Nhlangano and Buhleni. From the funds generated in hosting the awards they use them to fund the workshop, book venue, transport and food for the team.
