MBABANE - Good music that reaches the soul.

What a night with Zwile at Happy Valley Hotel and Casino; music lovers were taken on a musical journey on Saturday. Hosted by Platinum Concepts, the show was a two-hour session with the main act being the talented saxophonist Zwile Bhembe. This was episode two after episode one that was held at the George Hotel. Kick starting his second session, Bhembe performed a cover song by Sands titled ‘Lapha Kami’. He performed most of his cover songs and new songs. The crowd was mesmerised by his performance with his band it sang along.
Many local artists came in numbers to support their fellow artist, which is a good reflection to the music industry.  Revellers were dancing all the way from the beginning of the show until his last song on stage. The music rendered on the evening soothed the soul of everyone who attended the show. There was no age limit, mostly it was the youth in attendance, not forgetting the mature crowd as well. Denzel Smith joined Zwile on stage to serenade the crowd, and received love and cheering.

Announcements

After his one-hour session, Zwile and his band took a short break to refresh. Karly B ( Khulekani Mamba) from Platinum Concepts took to the stage for announcements. He mentioned that in the audience was Zwile’s father, who had always shown great support towards his son’s career. It’s worth noting that Zwile’s father is his number one supporter. “We are happy to see everyone here who came to support Zwile who has a good motive and he can do anything to push his talent. An evening, with Zwile is not just an evening but the time where you get to experience Zwile’s true talent. Some of the songs performed were his original songs and some were covers from remarkable artists. Mamba mentioned that Zwile’s father was always there to support his son. “He pushes him everyday to pursue his dream in music,’’ he said. He went on to say Zwile’s father refused complimentary tickets, but chose to buy like everyone else. He further went on to say that they were not working with Zwile alone, but other artists as well including KRTC  among others. He also mentioned that they would continue to have one-man show events every year.

After the short break, Zwile performed one cover song and asked KTRC (Thamsanqa Sibandze) to join him on stage. The crowd went crazy when Sibandze did his thing on stage. He got fun lovers on their feet singing along with him. Zwile made a shoutout to everyone who was adding a year on the evening, he played a birthday song with his saxophone next to Makwa Sebe, Smiso and Thabo just to name a few as it was their birthday. It is worth noting that Zwile’s birthday is tomorrow hence revellers sang him a birthday song too. In his cover songs he played ‘Mbombela’, ‘Imali’ just to name a few which got revellers dancing up a storm. Closing the show, Zwile asked his father to join him on stage and he also dedicated a song ‘Congo’ to his father. They sang and danced together on stage. The atmosphere was filled with love, laughter and happiness.

In an interview with the saxophonist, he said he was very happy with the love and support that he got on the evening. “The show was great, it was amazing. I am happy that the execution was on point from the organising team and everyone involved.  It was really amazing from episode one, the idea is growing. Last night was really great and I am hoping for the best next year on episode three,” he said.
