MBABANE – A first-of-its-kind event!

There are very few events that fulfil a social and corporate responsibility, while addressing issues of national importance in a fun and engaging manner. Eswatini Mums hosted their 2nd annual Family Fun Day charity event at the Albert Millin in Mbabane on Sunday and the weather was respectful enough to oblige.
Speaking to the event organiser and PR Officer, Nongcebo Malinga, she said: “We are humbled by the attendance and the way parents supported us by bringing their children along.

Sponsors

We are also very grateful to our sponsors, Nedbank Eswatini being our main one, but we appreciate every helping hand we received prior and during this event; siyabonga kakhulu (Thank you very much).” The day was filled with screams from children and background music served by the DJs present on the day, which included the likes of Wicked, Miss T and Humble to name a few. The event also consisted of a cookout between local DJ Tibza and Times of Eswatini Cooking Editor Tlalane Dlamini, which was a unique twist to local entertainment and was a very engaging exercise for most in attendance. Tibza was quoted saying: “Kitchen work can be tedious and we respect and understand the responsibility our women carry.”

This is a great way of educating one another on gender roles and helping men understand what it is like to be in a ‘woman’s shoes. Sponsors of the event included Stefanutti Stocks, Emlembe Beverages, Nedbank , Hope For The Girl Child, Jazz Friends Restaurant, Trusoundz Events Management, Kusekhaya, Eswatini Parking, Beryl Spices, Gfox Swaziland, Delish Products, Olive Café, Big Momma Events Management,  Helping Hand Foundation among others. In closing, Malinga thanked all the businesses and Therese Ndjch, who is a teacher at Waterford Kamhlaba, for their support.

Kiddies

Ndjeh spoke to the children present on bullying, which can extend to social media, and told them to always speak up and had them repeating words of affirmation to strengthen their self-confidence. This again was a key part of the festivities of the day and was a unique approach to teaching; having children learn while at a place of fun. The soft spoken teacher, with the assistance of Malinga, gave out kiddies packs to the children after the 10-minute talk they had. We laud Eswatini Mums for an all-inclusive vibe and a responsible delivery on the day. There were no reports of children injured or lost as every child was under the watchful eye of their team on the ground. The children also engaged in sack races and egg and spoon races, much to the amusement of the young ones.
