MBABANE – After a gruelling two years of COVID-19, patrons were happy to hear that MTN BUSHFIRE will be returning this year with a full in-person experience.

“MTN BUSHFIRE is very excited to once again welcome festivalgoers to the beautiful Malkerns Valley in Eswatini, from May 27-29! We’re going to #REIGNITETHEFIRE with our first full in-person festival in two years. “This uniquely African, yet globally infused, festival entertains thousands of people in an atmosphere of tolerance and passionate commitment to music, the arts and the environment,” reads the press release.

Tickets

Tickets are now available for purchase through the MTN Bushfire website and numbers of attendees and therefore tickets will be limited this year as one of the numerous COVID-19 safety regulations put in place by MTN BUSHFIRE. Patrons should note that there will be no physical tickets sold for MTN Bushfire this year. Tickets can currently be purchased through the MTN Bushfire website, and will soon be available for purchase via MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) with an electronic ticket, which can be downloaded directly to mobile phones and shown at the gate for entry. The announcement will be on the MTN BUSHFIRE Ayoba channel and other social media platforms.

“Festival fans can stay tuned for updates and new developments on the MTN Bushfire channel on the Ayoba all-in-one chat and entertainment app. MTN Bushfire channel subscribers can look forward to exciting giveaways in the weeks to come, including MTN BUSHFIRE tickets. Simply download the app from www.ayoba.me, Play Store or App Store and subscribe to the channel,” further reads the press release.

Vaccination drive

"Worth noting is that patrons will be required to provide valid proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 in order to enter the event. This requirement will apply to all ages eligible for vaccination, as a valid ticket alone will not be enough to gain entry. MTN Bushfire has taken this decision in conjunction with its partners as it is the best way to ensure the health and safety of festivalgoers, artists, festival staff and local communities. The festival’s commitment to the creative sector as well as to the broader Eswatini community, is an integral element of the ‘Bring Your Fire’ mandate to create positive social change,” reads the press statement.

The press release also states that MTN BUSHFIRE has partnered with the Ministry of Health, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other key national health stakeholders to support the national vaccination drive. In the run-up to MTN Bushfire, a number of thrilling BUSHFIRE-themed vaccination pop-up events will be held in Eswatini, where members of the public will be entertained by local DJ’s, stand a chance to win great prizes, including tickets to the festival and get vaccinated for COVID-19. The festival has not had an in-person experience since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 and patrons and staff alike cannot wait for its full return. BUSHFIRE is an event that attracts a large crowd and is good for the tourism industry, which also took a knock during this pandemic era.

assured

“Holders of 2020 tickets are assured that their tickets remain valid for the 2022 festival and will be honoured. All 2020 ticket holders will need to register their ticket options for this year. The registration link can be found on the tickets page of the MTN Bushfire website. Please note that tickets will not remain valid past the 2022 festival. “To learn more about the festival’s health and safety precautions, the vaccination requirement as well as the re-registration for 2020 ticket options, please check out the MTN BUSHFIRE website, www.bush-fire.com and help to #REIGNITETHEFIRE this year!” read the press release in closing. BUSHFIRE, rich in culture and diversity, had become somewhat of a culture for locals and foreigners alike and it will be refreshing to see it come back stronger and better. This pandemic has really been a thorn in Jiggs’ side; no pun intended.
