MBABANE - When your craft speaks on your behalf, it attracts opportunities.

One of the best local Amapiano local disc jockeys, Mlungisi Shongwe, popular known as Tilungu, has got a thumbs up from Kelvin Momo. Momo is a diverse South African producer, primarily of Amapiano but his tracks have also featured on a couple of Soulful House compilations.  The South African artist shared a stage with Tilungu last week Friday at Mega Lounge.  Their collaboration left the audience yearning for more.

During their set, patrons were seen taking videos and showing off killer dance moves.  One could attest that they complemented each other; their set was smooth as if they had rehearsed.
In an interview with Tilungu, who is also part of a renowned local duo called ‘Bofecela,’ he shared his excitement.  He said he was honoured to share a stage with one of the best diverse producers.  “The set was spontaneously done. I was so excited to share the decks with one of the best. Nerves also featured but I pulled through, it was an awesome experience that I will never forget. “We are looking forward to a collaboration,” he said. He went on to share what Momo said during their thrilling set.  “What humbled me the most was when he complimented me during our set. He is one of the artists I actually look up to with DJ Jaivane,” he added.

Performance

The performance was made possible by Zipho from Mega Lounge. Social media was also abuzz as people were posting the video of Tilungu and Kelvin on their pages. They all commended Tilungu for representing local DJs. Thami ‘Matamza’ Zwane, who works with Tilungu, congratulated him and shared that he enjoyed the set. “I really wasn’t expecting their set but I enjoyed it. It is such a great honour to see one of our own shinning with one of the best,” he said. It is worth noting that Tilungu is not the first local artist to collaborate and share a stage with one of the best South African artists. The award-winning and multi-talented Sandziso ‘Sands’ Matsebula recently jumped onto the amapiano bandwagon and recorded a song with one of SA’s renowned house music producer, Dj Kwiish SA. Emerging deep house and electronic music stars !Sooks and Dwson came together to pay homage to Eva, the ‘Mother of Life’. The collaboration is a thumping deep house marvel that could easily make the cut as the soundtrack to the Garden of Eden. The song marks the first collaboration between the two multi-award winning trail blazers, a cross- border and cross-cultural (Eswatini and South Africa) exhibition of the growth of electronic and dance music in Africa.
