MBABANE – Even though it was a Monday, fun lovers came in numbers to X Change Lounge and Shisanyama ready for groove.

In true festive season spirit, emaSwati came in numbers to watch South African amapiano vocalist Daliwonga perform for the second time in the country.
The muso co-headlined alongside Dj Slu, a liSwati deejay based in Pretoria, South Africa. The event was almost like a homecoming party for Dj Slu given that it was dubbed House of Slu, which is one of many events the deejay has hosted in the past at some of the renowned entertainment hubs  in South Africa.

Local deejays brought their A-game on stage during the show. This included Dj Bunny, 2.0, Matamza & Tilungu (Kings of Amapiano), DJ Knoxman, DJ Cybos, and DJ 1D who serenaded fun lovers with hip hop music. By 7pm, the venue was already packed and when Daliwonga finally took to the stage, his fans , especially the ladies screamed while singing along lyrics to his songs like ‘Dipatje’, ‘Izolo’, ‘Banyana’ and ‘Chameleon’. While performing on stage, he would occasionally say ‘Asambeni’ to revellers and this led to them dancing and chanting his name.

Performance

.Immediately after his performance, DJ Slu manned the decks as he played a rare genre of house music called Bacardi and Sgija. Bacardi house, is a sub-genre of house music that infuses elements of house, kwaito and electronic altogether. The genre itself was founded by the late DJ Spoko in Atteridgeville. DJ Slu would now and again dance for the crowd while behind the decks and this went on for about an hour until his set ended. Speaking after his performance, a lot given that this was his second time in the country, he said, “This sure was a great way to return back into the country. I enjoyed my performance, shout out to my fans that were singing along while I was on stage.”

On the other hand, DJ Slu said, ‘The reception was amazing hey. We had a beautiful night. It was a great turnout with incredible vibes.” After the show, Luvuyo Dlamini said she enjoyed herself during the show. She described the show as one of her highlights for this festive. “I give the show a 10/10. Daliwonga and Slu were a marvel to watch and this party was definitely one of my highlights this festive,” she said.
