NHLONIPHO IN STUDIO WITH SA’S SJAVA

MBABANE – Hard work will take you to the top but talent will only take you to the door.

This adage rings true for Nhlonipho, a singer and songwriter and music producer who has been making waves with his blossoming career through his hustle over the years at the city of gold. Currently based in Johannesburg where he is plying his trade in making music, the ‘Life I Got’ hitmaker continues to set trends. He recently dropped his debut EP titled ‘Life I Got’ featuring renowned ‘Nalingi’ star, Manu WorldStar. News of his feature with Sjava surfaced on the artists’ post on social media where they shared a snap together while in studio.

Interview

In a telephonic interview with this publication, Nhlonipho confirmed being in studio with the ‘Isina Muva’ artist. “It was a surreal moment for me while in studio with Sjava. It was my first time meeting him and I was amazed and inspired by his aura he exudes in the room. He is definitely talented and quite knowledgeable when it comes to his culture and traditions which speak for itself really through his music,” he said. He went on to add that it was a great experience as he got to learn that a an artist its important to stay true to who you are including preserving culture while putting it out through music. Having signed under one of South Africa’s biggest record label companies which is independent, his publisher Paballo also comfirmed that Nhlonipho was in studio with Sjava but could not comment any further.

Relationships

The second half of the 2010s. Singing and rapping almost entirely in Zulu, he writes emotionally resonant song about relationships and family matters, and his songs effortlessly demonstrate how much common ground contemporary R&B and trap have with traditional Zulu musical forms. After breaking through with his gold-selling debut album, 2016’s Isina Muva, his fame spread internationally when he was featured on the Black Panther soundtrack in 2018. Jabulani Hadebe was born and raised in the small South African town known as Bergville. Later relocating to Johannesburg, he first found success as an actor, appearing in several South African soap operas, in addition to writing music for television series ranging from dramas to dance programmes.
His pop music career as Sjava didn›t begin until he was past the age of 30, when he sang the chorus to Miss Pru’s 2016 hit single “Ameni.”

Addition

Sjava’s debut album, Isina Muva (“late bloomer”), appeared on Ambitiouz Entertainment soon afterward, and was certified gold in the artist’s home country, in addition to winning Best Produced Album at the South African Music Awards. After Kendrick Lamar heard Sjava’s music, the South African artist appeared on the Black Panther soundtrack expanding his international fan base. Following the release of the Umphako EP, Sjava won the Viewers› Choice award for Best International Act at the 2018 BET Awards.
