MBABANE – Ground-breaking!

Over the years, the media industry in the country has not introduced enough media bodies or companies for the advertisement and marketing needs of local productions. Fortunately, the introduction of a relatively new media group in the country will bring a significant change to this. Austen Media Group (AMG) is a registered company with the Department of Commerce industry and Trade also registered with Eswatini Revenue Authority (ERA)` for tax compliance purposes and also registered in South Africa. It was an established media group that specializes on providing complete communication and production solutions for SME’s and different organisations in the country.

“It offers a wide variety of services such as communication planning, marketing, media planning, content production, Music Publishing and IT development. All these services are easily delivered to clients hassle free and with an astonishing level of quality,” said Head of Creative Services, Kaunda Mdluli. He went on to add the company was also focused on the promotion and distribution of music. Through this, Austen Media recently partnered with Young Musicians Emporium (YME) Lesotho to bring the YME Tunes portal to the Eswatini market. The YME tunes platform will be fully operational on May 3, 2021 locally. YME Tunes is a musical download and streaming mobile portal that is registered with Southern Africa Music Rights Organization (SAMRO) and CAPASSO which ensures that the royalties as well as the authenticity of the work sold belongs to the right people.

YME is also registered with Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA). YME’s target market is across a wide demographic range but Mdluli asserted the main focus was between the ages of 13 and 55 years. “The reason is that lately the music industry has really taken a different shape all together since the technology world has also grown a lot now of which it has been discovered that even the teens are now widely using smartphones,” he said. In the same breath, Austen Media is at an advanced stage in partnering with Eswatini MTN Fintech department for a Mobile Money (MoMo) merchant account that will see Y.M.E Tunes having an application programming interface (API) which will help set up a payment gateway system for the local market.
