MBABANE - Lyrikal Busta is back with a bang!

After being a notable absentee from releasing music for the masses, Lyrikal Busta, whose real name is Thandolwethu Masuku, has released yet another Hip-Hop single that will definitely captivate you when you listen to the message it brings out.
The ‘King’s Back’ video was initially released by the artist as a freestyle late last year until he dropped the video on February 25, 2021, which premiered on Eswatini TV’s This Weekend Eswatini (TWE)  show hosted by well-known presenter and comedian, Mangaliso ‘Elfoe’ Masilela.

Publication

In an interview with this publication, Lyrikal Busta disclosed that the song was produced by Neves Aos and mixed by Sleek Ace. Asked on where he was all along, Busta exclaimed he had to lay low for a while and revisit the drawing board and update strategies since the COVID-19 pandemic had hit artists hard in the previous year. “We all know the COVID-19 pandemic hit us hard last year and so we had to revisit the drawing board and update strategies. As a result, I had to lay low for a while which is when ‘King’s Back’ was written and released during the lockdown. With this song, I just wanted to do something for my supporters who have supported my brand through thick and thin,” he said.

Busta further commented by saying it was pivotal to know the importance of music and the kind of influence it can have on the consumer. This he said was because he always opted not to only entertain, but also educate people who listened to his music with his God-given talent.

Subject

“On this song I’m addressing the social ills that our youth is subjected to on a daily basis such as drug abuse, violence and unemployment,” he said. He grew up in a small household with his father who was a music collector and ballroom dance choreographer whom he attributes his love for making and writing lyrics to which later turned into a passion and later culminated into a career. He was born and raised at Msunduza in Mbabane which is where he later became obsessed with music and writing.

Audience

His blend of hip-hop and afro beats music is drawing a growing southern African audience and the attention of megastars like Reason HD (SA) and he is strongly inspired by the life around him and problems he is subjected to on a daily. The 25 year-old musician boasts two MTN SWAMA awards for Best Music Video 2018 and 2019, topped the EBIS Top 20 Charts in the country with hit tracks ‘Dance for Mi’ and ‘Makoti’. He has performed alongside the likes of Aka, Sjava, Reason HD, Kwesta, Blaq Diamond, Emtee, Shane Eagle, Anatii to name but a few. He is currently in studio working on his third solo project titled ‘’New Skool Wave” which will feature a number of local artists and international artists.
