MBABANE – Good news for MTN Bushfire Festival lovers as they have launched the 2021 Hybrid Festival Series.

This will be a year-round calendar of bespoke events combining digital and live experiences, all rooted in the spirit of inclusion and celebration of diversity that MTN Bushfire had been synonymous with over the years. According to the Festival Organiser Jiggs Thorne; the series will be all about showcasing a broad range of top artists from Africa and across the world.
The MTN Bushfire 2021 Hybrid Festival Series will be a next-level experience featuring electrifying performances, unique regional collaborations, exclusive content, the long-awaited MTN Bushfire Firefly finale, up-close and personal access to artists, industry workshops, master classes, as well as activations supported by the #BRINGYOURFIRE social mandate.

exciting

To top it off, the Series will culminate in one of the most exciting multicultural hybrid festival events to be seen on the African continent. This finale will combine customised and upgraded immersive online experiences with a scaled down and COVID -19 protocol focused in-person event which will enable fans to gather safely and share the magic that is MTN Bushfire. “MTN Bushfire’s number one priority continues to be the health and safety of the festival-goers, and all those in the festival community who make MTN Bushfire so special. Therefore it is clear that holding the MTN Bushfire festival in its usual format will not be possible this year,” he said.

However, Thorne elaborated that the MTN Bushfire team was confident that with the global advances being made against the pandemic, MTN Bushfire will be able to welcome everyone back to the home of the festival in the beautiful Malkerns Valley of Eswatini in 2022. He went on to add that the series would be held during the second half of the year as they were still buying time to make the event a success while ensuring safety from COVID-19 for the festival goers.

“We are currently still in talks with our sponsors and the team at large so that we ensure the series goes according  to plan as we want to abide by government’s regulations and protocols as a date is yet to be announced,” he said. However, he added that the live series events would be entirely dependent on the COVID-19 regulations at the time.
