MBABANE – “We are not happy with Illa.’

Local fun lovers have come out to claim that award winning hip hop artist turned philanthropist Sifiso ‘Illa Penboy’ Ndlangamandla was not forthcoming when asked for refunds on tickets that they allegedly bought for a show he was organising in December last year.

The show dubbed ‘Amapiano Cooler Box party’ was to take place in December 19, 2020.

The show was set to feature performances from ‘Umshove’ hit maker Leehleza and Mbali Wethu from South Africa.

Wendy, a fun lover who claimed to have bought two tickets to the show, alleged that Illa Penboy was not forthcoming when she enquired about a refund.

She said she understood that the show had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions put in place by government.

Refund

“I fully understand why the show had to be cancelled. Our safety comes first. I am just not happy with how the organiser responded when I asked him about the tickets refund. He said they would give us feedback as they had used the money to pay for the venue and artists. We paid for those tickets and we do not appreciate his manner of response,” she said.

The publication spoke to another patron who also alleged that Illa Penboy was impolite when he reached out to him.

“I am a huge fan of amapiano and I called him to enquire about a refund as I wanted my money back. I called him multiple times he never responded on the fifth call he was impolite and said he postponed the show we should hold on to our tickets,” he said.

Temahlubi shared that her means to contact the organiser proved futile after some of her friends told her about Illa Penboy’s response.

“I went as far as asking around on Facebook and the venue of the show. They all told me to speak to Illa who was the organiser. We just want to know how we can get back our money,” she added.

The poster stated that general tickets were sold at E200 and the VIP cost E450.

Speaking to the publication Illa  Pen Boy   disputed the allegations and said  he responded in a very polite manner.

“The show was postponed due to the-19 pandemic. We had to postpone the show the day before the event. We had already paid for all the expenses.  I do not understand why people would say I was rude. People interpret messages, differently, I guess,” he said.

Promotion

When asked about the refunding process he said they could not give refunds because they had given away a lot of promotion tickets to patrons. He said they were afraid that people would ask for refunds even though they got free tickets.

“How can we refund people who got promotion tickets. We will have a challenge differentiating a buyer and a person who got a free ticket. People can also wait for the event and resell their tickets,” he said.

He went on to urge people to hold on to their tickets as the event would take place as soon as government permited events.

It is worth noting that Amapiano Cooler Box Party was not the only event postponed the likes of Maguga War Party and Luphohlo Dam Party were also postponed in December.
