MBABANE – The year 2021 is one for local artists to spread their wings.

Recently, local upcoming artist Milano, whose real name is Sizwe Vilakati, told the Entertainment Desk that he had collaborated with renowned South African afro pop artist Mr Chozen.

The artist told this publication that his music journey started in 2015 but he eventually got recognition in 2019, when he sang a song by South African Traditional Music Awards winner Passion Master titled ‘Impilo Yase Jozi’.

“He immediately sent me a message on Facebook Messenger showing intrest in doing a collaboration with me,” said the artist.

He shared that they subsequently recorded a single in late 2020 titled ‘Half Past 2’, which was released towards the end of November in the same year.

Milano also shared that his collaboration with Mr Chozen was inspired by his friendship with Passion Master, who hooked them up, when he was booked for a performance in Mpumalanga.

“The song we worked on was recorded and produced by Jay Spitter, who is also a South African musician from the Mpumalanga Province,” revealed Milano.

The 23-year-old artist mentioned that the song has a backing beat, which was created by Frank Ma Beat and would be released next month.

Mr Chozen has worked with local entertainers, especially when he was booked to perform at Ekhayeni Chillaz last year.

Mr Chozen confirmed the collaboration with Milano through a WhatsApp conversation with this publication.

“It is always a pleasure working with artists outside of my comfort zone as it helps me grow my circle and fan base,” he concluded.

Mr Chozen is a high flyer in his home country as he has won numerous awards, including the much celebrated South African Music Awards (SAMA).
