MBABANE – The Spotlight powered by MTN season two has taken the country by storm.

The show made its debut last year and saw rapper Nsika Mazibiko, widely known as Llucid, taking away the grand prize which was a recording and brand ambassadorship deal with the network giant as well as a KIA Picanto motor vehicle.

The current edition of the talent search was launched over a month ago on the MTN Eswatini Facebook page and has been airing on Eswatini TV every Sunday from 5pm.

Young and upcoming artists from Eswatini gave a shot to this great opportunity to become one of the best singers in the country.

According to Senior Manager Consumer Meshack Maseko, MTN Eswatini sought to unearth the kingdom’s hidden music gems by putting them on ‘The Spotlight’- giving them a platform to unleash their potential.

This season of Eswatini’s pulsating music talent show kicked off in the kingdom with auditions being held across all four corners of Eswatini. Each region was afforded the chance to showcase their talent for the opportunity get put on The Spotlight.

Maseko said the show had already transformed most of emaSwati’s living rooms into front row seats of the country’s biggest talent search competition.

Excited

“We are really happy with the turnout of contestants and the amazing new and fresh talent coming through. We are really excited about the show and cannot wait for the beginning of the second phase,” he said.

Asked if the online auditions had worked out as anticipated, Maseko responded positively.

“We believe that online auditions have made try outs accessible to everyone living in the country, no matter where they live in light of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic safety restrictions.

Technology has also allowed us to manage online entries better.

The outcome is incredible and the talent we found online has been really exciting to see,” he said.

With the auditions over, Maseko said the next phase of the competition would be the grueling elimination process.

Speaking to the Entertainment Desk, last year’s winner Llucid, said the competition put him at the forefront of the industry as it was where every artist aimed to be.

Relish

“I relish that moment and do not take it with a light heart. My advice for people, who want to take it all the way would be that if they are in it, they should be in it to win it,” he said.

Mazibuko further highlighted that there was no room for mediocrity and people being there to see how far they could go.

He then urged aspiring contestants to prepare themselves emotionally and mentally for the competition as it turned out to be a roller coaster.

One of the judges for the competition, Khulekani ‘Karly B’ Mamba urged all participants to prepare for a journey of their wildest dreams.

Assured

Mamba assured them that if they pushed themselves to work hard; they would make it out to be the best among other contestants and further wished them well.

In conclusion, Maseko then invited all emaSwati to follow the competition on Eswatini TV every Sundays at 5pm, Y’ello Hub, MTN Eswatini YouTube channel and Facebook Page as well as The Spotlight official page.
