SIPHIWO RECEIVES MOST NOMINATIONS

MBABANE – The Lockdown Online Gospel Music Awards have unveiled some of their nominations for the upcoming awards.

The unveiling event, which took place from 4pm until 6pm, was held at the Mountain Inn on Sunday and was also simulcast live on Eswatini TV as well as Facebook through the Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA). Some of the nominated artists include Lungelo Matse, Linda M, Sambulo Khumalo, Praise Unlimited, Siphiwo Ndlangamandla, Spirit Quest, Phiwokwakhe and High Praise Assembly International.  

Nomination

According to ACAESWA President Phetsile Masilela, the nomination phase, which was launched at the beginning of August this year, took 30 days where people nominated their favourite artists online through Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation as well as MTN Eswatini and Eswatini Mobile.  These nominations were facilitated by Technosoul Group, which is also a telecommunications company based in Eswatini. Making the revelation of the awards nominees was Bandile Zwane from the Technosoul Group, who said the category with most nominations was the ‘Best Gospel Artist’ while the category with the least nominations was the ‘Most Downloaded Artist’.Overall, the awards unveiled 21 categories, which were divided into three, being public and technical categories as well as the ones to be handled by the judges of the awards.

   Siphiwo Ndlangamandla received the most nominations in different categories of the awards. These categories were ‘Lockdown Best Male Gospel Artist’, ‘Lockdown Best Gospel Artist of the Year’, ‘Lockdown Best Styled Gospel Artist’ and ‘Lockdown Best Traditional Gospel Song’. Speaking to this publication, Ndlangamandla expressed his excitement over the news of being the most nominated. “I give God all the Glory and I know the awards are still at the nomination stage, however, I am still very grateful,” he said. The artist mentioned that he was not expecting to be nominated especially in more than one category.

He shared that although it had been quite a hectic year, it was great for him to receive such news which brought a smile to his face.  “It shows that my work is not in vain. I know it’s just the beginning but I’m very excited about what God is doing. I would like to ask my supporters to vote in those categories,” he concluded. Meanwhile the president of the association thanked everyone for participating in the nominations process and further urged them to vote for their favourite artists. The voting lines have been opened and to do so, people must send an SMS as follows, VOTE ARTISTS CODE TO 6677. The voting will be according to the category code abbreviations followed by the artist’s number, which are two digits.
