MBABANE – Lending a helping hand.  The upcoming Lockdown Gospel Music Awards to be held later this month have bagged a sponsorship worth E90 000 from local music and sound hire company Destiny.

Making the revelation was Destiny Music’s representative, Melusi Zikalala at the press briefing held at their shop on Wednesday evening.
Zikalala said as the group had different entities being Destiny Group Visuals and Destiny Sound Hire, they would be supporting the event with E30 000 and E60 000 respectively.

He said Destiny Sound Hire would be responsible for the instruments and sound projection while Destiny Group will be responsible for the live broadcast, which will take place on social media platforms.
“We are happy to be part of the project and hope that emaSwati will enjoy the high quality streaming and sound that will be brought to them,” he stated.
gratitude

Accepting the support from the company was the Vice Chairperson for the awards, Sabelo Masuku, who expressed his gratitude for the assistance as he revealed that sound equipment was a crucial part of any event, especially one of that magnitude.
“We have realised that music remains an essential service in life as we have seen since the beginning of the lockdown that people appreciated escaping into music as a form of therapy,” he remarked.

Masuku further urged other corporate organisations to support the awards initiative, which served as a means to appreciate the contributions from local gospel musicians, who continued to provide an essential service to soothe people spiritually during the lockdown and beyond.

exciting

The Association for Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA) President, Phetsile Masilela, said this was an exciting moment for her as a liSwati and as an artist.
She mentioned that the association and its members had been looking forward to the awards for the past two year.
Masilela commended the work done by Destiny Group for the arts sector as she said she had seen that they had been supportive toward many other initiatives that had been taking place online ever since the lockdown began.

initiative

“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the committee and chairperson of the awards for the initiative as well as the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth affairs for understanding the need for the awards to be hosted, regardless of the COVID-19 pandemic,” she remarked.
Masilela also appreciated the mother body for the arts in the country, which is the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), for supporting them in all their plans.

She highlighted that the gesture by Destiny group was humbling because the donation was an integral part of an event’s success.
She concluded by inviting supporters of gospel music in the country to watch the event, which will be hosted on the Eswatini Gospel Music Awards, Destiny Music Group, her’s and the ENCAC’s facebook pages.
