MBABANE – Gone are the days of waiting to go into a music store to access your favourite song, when you can access it in the comfort of your home.
For some artists, the lockdown has given them opportunity to reflect and rise.

This has been evident with local duo in spinner, MBO and songstress Symphony, who released a song titled ‘Emadlelweni’ in March this year.
The local DJ, whose real name is Mbongeni Sithungo, announced the release of the song earlier in the year and that it would only be available on SoundCloud.

inspired

In an interview with the Entertainment Desk, MBO said the song was inspired by his and Symphony’s love for God.
He said the song was a fusion of dance and gospel music and its message was taken from the bible scripture, in Psalm 23.
He further added that the song was a directive for people to trust in God through their struggles.

The deejay revealed that working with Symphony was amazing as she was a breeze to collaborate with.
“She was excited at the collaboration and infused her vocals well into the sound. We hope that people are going to love it,” he said.
MBO highlighted that the recording of the song was done a long time ago and it took a lot of fine-tuning to get the product that they released.
He said it was an important aspect for music to produce a high quality standard as at the end of the day it was to be consumed by people.

delighted

“We are delighted to announce that our supporters can now get the song on all digital music streaming platforms such as Deezer, Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, junodownload, bandcamp as well as TraxSource at E16.50,” he revealed.
The song was produced by MBO and Subjamz, mastered by South Africa-based record label, Big Dreamz and distributed by New Life Records.

He further expressed his excitement at the reception his song has had when he previously performed it at the Sibebe Resorts Picnic, where the audiences requested for an encore.
The duo has also performed the song live at the Behind Bars Party, which was hosted by Solani’s Shisanyama.

“The coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown regulations have had positive impacts on us as artists, in that it has allowed us to embrace digital stores because physical copies were already gradually ceasing to exist,” he echoed.
