MBABANE – Try again next year. Eswatini Pageants Association has officially announced that they have closed the registration process for Miss Eswatini.
This was shared by the president Catrien Potgieter, in an interview with the Entertainment Desk yesterday.

She said Pageants Eswatini would be hosting the pageant next year but they already closed the registration process.
“According to the prime minister’s statement which states that all gatherings are to be postponed or cancelled, we as Pageants Eswatini will follow suit on his statement and stand by this decision until further notice,” she said.

It is worth noting that, the association had already started collecting registration forms.
This year they had planned to collect them differently by visiting different towns.
“We wanted to give every girl the opportunity. We were aware that not everyone can drop their applications at the Eswatini National Counsel of Arts and Culture head office. This time around we wanted to go to the people. I can confidently share that people responded positively, some managed to email their forms during the partial lockdown,” she said.

participants

She went on to share that they managed to get over 40 participants and they would be given the allowance of pulling out if they wanted to.
“As we will be hosting the pageants next year, contestants can still pull out. We will not be accepting any new candidates, the ones we have will be battling for the title,” she explained.

Potgieter said they would share on how they would conduct their eliminations through the social media platforms.
“We are still yet to decided on how we will be conducting our eliminations after three weeks. The whole situation is new for everyone and we are trying by all means to adhere to the regulations and also keep the pageants going,” she said.

The president pleaded with the public to help them proceed with the pageant as they would fully depend on the public to vote and choose their finalist.
“For us to keep the ball rolling we need people to participate and we will share on how they could possible choose their 12 finalist from the 40 candidates,” she explained.

It is worth noting that South Africa is one of the countries that has proceeded with their pageant despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
They have also closed their online registration process and they will soon start voting for their Miss South Africa winner.

excitement

The current Miss Eswatini Nondumiso Dlamini shared her excitement about the pageant and also pleaded with the public to fully support the pageant.
“The whole process is new and we would like to urge people to support the pageant. I am also excited about the girls who decided to register,” she said.
More information about the elimination process will soon be shared.
