MORE INFLUENCERS GIVE BACK

MBABANE – The more the merrier.  This mantra holds true for most of the local influencers who joined Eswatini’s popular rapper Illa Penboy, who also goes by the name Mr Successful Events, in donating bread to the less privileged.

Born Sifiso Ndlangamandla in Hlatikhulu, Illa said it was a privilege for him to share with the less privileged  and those who are affected by the coronavirus outbreak and the strict restrictions that have confined people to the premises of their homes.
“Since most people in the country are affected by COVID-19 and cannot afford to buy food, I decided to buy loaves of bread to give to those that need them,” he said.

Amazement

The rapper and event’s organiser shared pictures of himself on Facebook next to the loaves which he had bought last Tuesday.  This was much to the amazement of his followers who were stunned by the kindness of the artist. Illa said he felt he had inspired people to come out and help because after the post went viral on Facebook, he received a further donation of 100 loaves from other people who anonymously donated, as well as Premier Bakeries in Matsapha which donated 200 loaves of bread.

In addition to that, the artist revealed that he would not like to be in contravention of the lockdown laws while doing this act of kindness.
He said it was easier giving bread because it already came covered in plastic which would be properly sanitised before it was shared with the people.

This means that the artist has organised with the Municipal Council of Manzini and the Ezulwini Town Council to arrange for the distribution of the loaves of bread to the different care points for the less privileged as well as chiefdoms that would assist in donating at the areas that are outside the urban boundaries. It is worth noting that his movement has allowed him to join hands with the likes of Tinashe Online Boutique, Sport Cast Eswatini and Seven Stars Dance and Fitness Studio. Currently they have been able to hand out over 1 500 loaves.

Delivered

The bread was delivered at Manzini Hope House, Manzini Youth Care, Mncitsini Social centre in Mbabane and Mvutjini Social centre in Ezulwini. Seven Stars shared that they saw Illa’s movement on social media and decided to join him in helping.

“This act is encouraging because it paints a picture that this is serious and no one is immune to this pandemic. It also shows that everyone should come on board in this fight whether in entertainment, corporate or in the religious fraternity,” they concluded.

Thandeka Msibi from Invasion Lifestyle applauded Illa for coming up with a fruitful idea.
She went on to add that they will continue with the campaign.
