MISS ESWATINI POSTPONED, AGAIN!
MBABANE - Safety comes first. This is as the Eswatini Pageants Association has officially announced that they have stopped preparing for Miss Eswatini this year until further notice.
This was shared by the president Catherine Potgieter, in an interview with the Entertainment Desk yesterday.
She said Pageants Eswatini would adhere to the Prime Minister’s statement which stopped big gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
“According to the Prime Minister’s statement which states that all gatherings are to be postponed or cancelled, we as Pageants Eswatini will follow suit on his statement and stand by this decision until further notice,” she said.
It is worth noting that, the Association had already started collecting registration forms.
This year they had planned to collect them differently by visiting different towns.
“We wanted to give every girl the opportunity. We were aware that not everyone can drop their applications at Eswatini National Counsel of Arts and Culture head office. This time around we wanted to go to the people,” she said.
Their movement started last month where they were in Nhlangano collecting application forms. They also visited Mbabane, Ezulwini and Siteki.
“We are just following suit until further notice,” added the president.
It is not the first time pageants have been postponed, last year it was because of funds and people not participating.
This year it is because of COVID-19.
More information will soon be shared.
