MANZINI – Pageants Eswatini revealed a new organising committee for the Miss Eswatini and Miss Teen Eswatini 2020 pageants.

These new developments were revealed in a press conference that was held at the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture offices in Manzini yesterday.
The committee that was revealed consists of Catrien Potgieter, who is the President of the Pageants Eswatini organisation; Doreen Mapasure, who has been with the organisation for a while now; model and TV actor Thando ‘Starring’ Mzamo, Rodney Lansberg, who is the reigning Mr Eswatini and Snowee, who has represented Eswatini on international runways as well as Palesa Dlamini.

Assignments

At the briefing, Snowee and Palesa were not present as they both had other assignments outside of the organisation to carry out.
Potgieter said they changed the committee so as to reach new and undiscovered faces for the pageant from across the country as this was in line with their mandate to grow the pageant, taking it to the four regions of the country.

She also guaranteed that the Miss Eswatini and Miss Teen Eswatini pageants would take place this year after a two-year hiatus.
With this, she said the pageants would take place in April and May respectively.

It is worth mentioning that the Miss Teen pageant was last held on September 9, 2017, where Tyra Johnson scooped the crown, while the Miss Eswatini pageant was held on September 15, 2018 where the crown was scooped by Nosipho Dlamini. Potgieter revealed that there had been challenges with aligning both pageants with the rest of the SADC regions.

She added that they saw the opportunity to align by shifting the pageants to earlier in the year, allowing the winners to participate and represent the country on an international scale that takes place from June till the end of the year.

In addition to that, Mr Eswatini Lansberg said the pageant would carry through with their theme from the previous pageant about going green, which was a signature in line with every other pageant across the world about saving the planet.

Meanwhile, Sigeja Curios was revealed as one of the main sponsors for the Miss Eswatini Pageant. They will be sponsoring the pageant with cultural outfits which the contestants will be wearing during the culture/tradition segment of the competition.

Support

It was revealed by Potgieter that Sigeja Curios said they were pleased to support such a cause such that the contestants would get to keep their cultural outfits after the pageant.
Other prizes mentioned included gadgets for the top three winners, which were subsequently followed by a mention of the international scholarship prize.
Potgieter also called for the business community to support the pageant.

The CEO of the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture said he was excited about the new developments at Pageants Eswatini.
He also said they had been engaging with other prospective sponsors and would be holding another press conference to reveal other lucrative prizes.
