MBABANE – Redeployed! This speaks to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Eswatini Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) led by recently co-opted president Lutfo Dlamini, which has concluded its annual redeployment in readiness for its third and final year in office this year.

In a press statement, new SWAMA Public Relations Officer (PRO) and former Executive Secretary Bongani ‘Thizalam’ Dube said the annual redeployment was an internal exercise aimed at re-assigning responsibilities based on office bearers’ capabilities, skills, and strengths, in order to bolster the NEC’s efficiency and functionality.

The first-ever internal redeployments were done in January 2019, and this becomes the second such exercise. The exercise, ostensibly, has kept SWAMA as one of the most visible and active independent arts associations which are affiliated to the mother body, the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC).

The 2020 redeployment sees the Vice President, Lindelwa Mafa, a radio personality, retaining her position, while the Secretary General Bongani Dube, also known as DJ Tizalami, has been reassigned to the communications portfolio as new PRO. His then deputy Tiyamike ‘Tiyas’ Maziya has been elevated to Secretary General, and will be deputised by newly-co-opted Dumisa Dlamini. Dlamini served in the previous NEC and occupied the same position.

Nqobile Simelane, who occupied the position of Executive Treasurer, retained her position.
Meanwhile, former Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors singer Thabile Mdluli, who previously occupied the position of Secretary for Arts Education becomes an additional member, together with Brian ‘Staycool’ Mdluli and newly-co-opted Musenge Chikopa. Chikopa, popularly known as ‘RJ’, is a former artist manager, and used to manage the firebrand rapper 80 Script.

Dube said the 2020 NEC had a varied and diverse skillset, as well as dedicated members who werre keen to assist the interim president lead the association towards achieving greater milestones this year.

Meanwhile, the SWAMA NEC has already hit the ground running, as they are currently holding a series of meetings, wherein a blueprint titled ‘Legacy year’ would be unveiled.
