MBABANE – Lioness! As Eswatini renowned model Coralee Vilakati lived up to her nickname ‘Lioness’ by becoming the face of a new range of Darling Hair Products known as ‘Jozi Short’.

‘Jozi Short’ is a crochet range of Darling Hair products. This crochet hairstyle is a shorter rendition of the ‘Jozi Dred’ and comes in pre-cut shorter lengths of 10 and 12 inches.
Different accessories such as beads, strings, rings can be used to enhance the style and that is what Vilakati displays on the box of the product.
She is also on the range’s website.

The hair range which Vilakati is the face of was launched about two weeks ago and she posted it on her social media pages.
Vilakati, in an interview with this journalist, said she was happy to be part of the Darling Hair family.
When asked how she got the gig, Vilakati said Darling Hair held castings for their new natural hair collection and she attended.

Competitors

“They were not open castings as they were not announced and it was done for selected models that have worked for them. I went to cast and later on was called that I have made it,” said Vilakati.
She said she got an ambassadorial contact like most, where a payment is made when the job is done.

“I do not have to wear the hair all the time. I can still enjoy other hairstyles I want.” Vilakati is also the brand ambassador for Klosette clothing. “My contract with them is still ongoing. Darling has not effected it since it is different brands and not competitors.

This is the first time I became a face of something huge.
“I have been working for Darling for the past three years in which I did hair shows mostly for them. I also did an advert as well as photoshoots. But since I was not exclusively a Darling face I worked with Soft’n’Free as well since the year 2017,” she said.

Vilakati continued to say that hard work and prayer pays off.

Support

“I have fully dedicated myself in my career and have always asked God for guidance. This came to me just after I had decided to cut my hair, go natural and stop hair modelling so I still have to keep my hair exactly as I wanted it all natural and a part of me feels like it helped me get picked for this contract.  “We should listen to that little voice inside our head, that’s God helping us take our decisions.

He works in mysterious ways after all, and I believe it was him who told me to cut my hair,” she said. She also said it is true what they say that you can work for five years and just when you think about giving up you finally get a break through.

“I hope I inspire other people to go after their dreams and never give up. Not just models or even women but every single artist out there.” She said she hoped that they got the support they needed because nothing pushed people so much than when they know they have people vouching for them.
