MBABANE – Phum’ ubatjele! At the sound of that track, everyone went nuts during K.O, real name Ntokozo Mdluli‘s performance at the MOSASWA Malaria Awareness Festival which was held at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre on Saturday.

MOSASWA is an acronym for Mozambique South Africa and Swaziland.
People braved the heat just to see him and Professor perform during the day. Some of the songs he sang included ‘Gangster love’ and ‘Supa Dupa’ among others.

In a brief interview, he mentioned that he was in the country for the malaria awareness show. After his performance, the crowd, mainly the youth, couldn’t stop shouting his name and others even got a chance to take pictures of him.

delivered

Fun lovers could not contain their excitement for Professor as he got on stage and delivered.
He sang his popular tracks that included: ‘Yizo Lezizinto’, ‘Angnamahloni ngawe’ and ‘Wayitjukutja’ among others.

He took moments on stage to give a piece of advice about malaria and encouraged that people take what they learnt on the day.
Everyone wanted a piece of him after his performance. Talking to the Entertainment reporter, he said he had lost count of how many times he has been to the country and Eswatini was home to him.

“We are here to join MOSASWA in the fight against malaria,” He said.
Local artists also thrilled the fans with their music. Popzin did the most as his performance was a
combination of singing and dancing. People were also taught about malaria and later asked questions by the M.C’s of the day comedian Mduduzi ‘Mdura’ Dlamini and radio presenter Ntfombitanele Motsa.

Performed

Artists including KrTC, Mozaik, Qhibo and Majaha the Poet also performed.
Malaria Program Director Quinton Dlamini shared that the event was meant to raise awareness about Malaria and to give people tips on how to prevent it.
“It’s those little things like leaving cans with water around your yard, so we are here to say empty the cans, close your windows and share symptoms of malaria,” he said.

Tolbert Chipire from Mozambique said to them the partnership was significant as they could not eliminate malaria on their own.

vigilant

“We are currently raising awareness per province and extending it while being vigilant on emergency cases,” he said.
Eric Mabunda of Limpopo, South Africa said theirs was to learn how best others dealt with malaria elimination and share their strategies.

He said it was important to them to cover all sectors in ensuring that the ‘Malaria elimination gospel’ was preached everywhere hence bringing together music lovers to teach them about malaria.
