MBABANE - The registration of the Inyatsi Swazi Frontier 2020 Mountain Bike (MTB) Stage race will open on Sunday.

This is according to correspondence which was copied to this publication by the Swazi Frontier organiser Lesley Foss. The previous edition of the annual race was won by local cyclists in Lungelo Mlangeni and Sihle Dlamini. The three-day adventurous stage race, which was in October, started at Hawane Resort and ended at Maguga Lodge. The 2020 edition will be held on October 8 to 10, starting at Hawane resort and finishing at Maguga Lodge.

“Last year saw our largest field of local cyclists, which proves that local cycling has developed to a level where there are more skilled and experienced riders with the confidence to take on a 3-day adventurous stage race such as Inyatsi Swazi Frontier,” said organiser Lesley Foss.

“Local road cycling youngsters, Lungelo Mlangeni and Sihle Dlamini, received a race entry fee sponsorship from International Tool Hire just weeks before the race and managed to borrow mountain bikes and get themselves prepared with little time to spare.  They had minimal mountain bike experience but were very fit and strong because of their entire road cycling training. Lungelo (23) and Sihle (22) were able to convert that strength to perform exceptionally well and became the overall winners,” continued Foss.

“Inyatsi Swazi Frontier presents an unparalleled opportunity for cyclists to battle it out over a course of three days. In that time, there are lots of variants and factors which may affect the eventual outcome.  Riders have to be physically and mentally strong,” she said.
Riders are encouraged to complete and submit their entry forms as soon as entries open, especially if they wish to take advantage of some of the savings offered on the entry fee.

These include early bird specials allowing riders to enter for the 2020 race but pay the 2019 entry fee provided that they enter and pay in full before December 31. The savings offers also include discounts for groups of 10+ riders and double saving on early bird specials plus groups of 10+ riders who enter and pay in full before December 31.

The offered savings include a payment plan for those who want to enter and pay after January 1 by instalments.
For those who are interested in the race, they can check full details of the payment options which are available on www.swazifrontier.co.sz
