NHLANGANO – Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the freshest of them all?  Ngwane Teachers College in Nhlangano hosted its annual Freshers Ball event this past weekend where a total of eight contestants battled it out for the crowns.

The newly-crowned Mr freshers, Lungelo Mathunjwa, who is studying towards a diploma in Primary Teaching, said he was excited to be crowned and was hoping to use this as a step towards pursuing a career in modelling as well. The newly crowned queen Nongcebo Dube who was radiating confidence on the runway, looked gorgeous, was engulfed by shock and excitement when she was crowned.

“I am very grateful for winning. I did not expect it; I do want to make sure I am the best queen who leads by example to other students.” she said.
The judges for the contest were Mr. and Miss Eswatini Rodney Landsberg and Nosipho Dlamini respectively.
The audience had a good time as this was witnessed by their loud cheers and whistling.

The judges said they had a tough time deciding on the winners because there were only eight participants.
Directing the proceedings during the event were Melusi Simelane and Nokuvela Ndaba.

The event kicked off at 10pm instead of the stipulated time which was 7pm due to technical glitches; however, everyone was happy with the eventual proceedings. Tfwala Samkeliso, who is the Minister for Social Welfare and Entertainment, said he was thrilled that an event of this magnitude took place at the university.

He further added that he hoped that one day the event would attract sponsorship to make it even bigger.
He took a moment to appreciate Mr. and Miss Eswatini for coming to support the event as judges.
