MANZINI - Overexcitement can destroy a great initiative! This statement proved to be true beyond doubt at the second edition of the Epic Gig at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre, where an overly-excited crowd became unruly during South African singer Mlindo the Vocalist’s performance, shutting down the show.

The movie-like scene began just after 1am, when the much-loved artist climbed on stage to render his set. After getting on stage, the fun lovers who packed the venue to the rafter pushed their way to the stage, breaking onto rails which were meant to create a boundary between the crowd and the stage.
The ‘Ngithanda Wena’ artist kept his cool and told the crowd that it was okay and he would continue performing.

He performed most of his songs, which are in his album titled ‘Emakhaya’ and he did so with the assistance of few security guards and the crew’s assistance, who tried to calm down the excitement.

All hell broke loose when he performed ‘Ngithanda Wena’, which is a viral song these days. The crowd started pouring their beer over the stage, climbed on it and mobbed the artist who was quickly rushed out to a police van by the Royal Eswatini Police Service officers.

Instantly, it went dark on stage under the suspicions that the electricity connection was disturbed by the mayhem and chaos. Five minutes after ‘lights out’, the unruly crowd started throwing bottles at the VIP and VVIP arena, causing hysteria and scare.
Some revellers got hurt and were rushed to ambulances. The number of casualties during this time were not fully compiled by the time this publication went to print.

Fun lovers exited the arena in an attempt to save their lives from the chaos.

Deprived

This incident deprived the South African entertainers Mobi Dixon and Kabza De Small a chance to perform, as they were the only main acts who had not performed.

Mobi Dixon is the ‘City Rains’ hit maker while Kabza De Small is one of the pioneers of the Amapiano genre and he is also behind the ‘Mbali’ track.
Besides all the mayhem caused by the disruptive and over excited crowd, the Epic Gig organisers and delivered on their promise as South African renowned rapper Kwesta performed at 9pm, making the crowd happy.

Also, the duo TLT, delivered their best, especially by performing their viral song titled ‘Nice Life Problems’.
Zimbabwean dancehall and raggae singer Buffalo Souljah rendered his best while fusing his songs with the now viral Amapiano songs.
