MBABANE – The Baceth Hardware director has apologised to pastors for the comments made by South African entertainer Zodwa Wabantu.

Following an announcement of the Baceth Music Festival last week, the public shared their concerns on social media platforms with regard to the entertainment line-up.

There was an outcry on the grouping of gospel music artists together with popular dancer Zodwa Wabantu, who is known for donning revealing outfits and not wearing underwear.

The outcry resulted in the entertainer asking local pastors to focus on their demons than on her booking for the inaugural festival.
This statement rubbed preachers the wrong way as it is said they felt insulted by the entertainer.

This resulted in Bacede ‘Baceth’ Mabuza, the founder of Baceth Hardware, having an interview with one of the local radio stations, Eswatini Broadcasting Information Services (EBIS), where he apologised to the men of God for the comments that were allegedly directed at them.

Apologizing

He, however, made it clear that he was not speaking on behalf of the artist but was apologising because he had received a number of concerns and, as the person behind the event, he saw it fit to calm the situation.
The festival was in the spotlight last Thursday when its PRO Bishop Vusumuzi Maculuve unpacked it to the media houses. The one-day festival is slated for August 3 at Manzini Club.

“I do not have an idea what was discussed by the entertainer and the publication as I was not there but I want to take this time and apologise to all pastors in the country. I retract the statement that was made by the entertainer,” Mabuza said.
He then encouraged media houses and the public to wait for more details about the event during the media launch which is set to take place today.

Unpack

“We will unpack everything during the media launch and this is where we will allow artists, pastors and the media to ask questions.”
As opposed to promoting the festival, which promises to deliver an exciting experience for festival-goers, Maculuve found himself defending the concept behind the whole event following the intensive mixed feelings that the music concert received especially on social media platforms.

Most users felt the event was compromising the Christianity image as Zodwa Wabantu is known for nakedness.
They were shocked she would be the host and further share the stage with gospel music artists.
The line-up includes the likes of Shongwe ne Khuphuka, Mduduzi neziNceku Zamagawugawu, Bishop Maculuve, Shiba and the Travellers, Babes Wodumo and DJ Tira.

Withdraws

Meanwhile Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo said he saw nothing wrong with the line-up as it was not branded as a gospel music festival.
“I personally do not have issues with the event.

We do attend corporate events where artists from different genres participate and there are never issues.
“Artists who are uncomfortable with the nature of the event always have a right to pull out than to change the concept presented by the person making the booking,” he said.
