MISS TOURISM 2019 LAUNCHED!

MBABANE – A face to represent Eswatini.

On Friday, at the newly opened Hilton Garden Inn, Miss Tourism 2019 was launched. The pageant, whose patron is Princess Sikhanyiso, has an aim of marketing the country and also finding young people who will know and be able to teach others about preserving cultural activities. The event kick-started with a short video that showcased public interviews where people were asked a few cultural questions. The clip revealed that most people do not know about the Eswatini culture which also the MC of the day, Qiniso Motsa otherwise known as ‘Qhibo Intelectual’ emphasised, that they still have a long way to go through this pageantry.

Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati applauded the efforts of the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Inkhosatana Sikhanyiso as the patron of this event in promoting and improving the lives of the girl child by equipping her with the necessary tools to learn, succeed and contribute to the country’s growth and development. “It is my pleasure to announce that the entire concept for Miss Tourism Eswatini 2019 is to use the pageant as a means of creating our own narrative as the Kingdom of Eswatini, which speaks on the country owning its identity and presenting the kingdom as a tourism destination of choice by rebutting all myths,” he  said.

Vilakati also announced that they will also give out a sponsorship to the winner of the pageant, and this together with prizes that will be won by the contestants that will take part in the pageant, will soon be announced to the public. “As a ministry, we are ready to give support in any way that we can. We urge all stakeholders and corporates to support the cause both through financial means as well as assisting to provide the girl child with a better future, by ensuring she receives quality tertiary education through sponsorships,” he said. The previous winner of Miss Tourism Eswatini was Nadia Nascimento who was crowned in 2015. The beauty was not new to beauty pageants as she is the former Miss Swaziland Second Princess 2013 and a seasoned model as well.
