MBABANE - Eswatini public entities have also brought their fire to see a successful MTN BUSHFIRE weekend!

Festival-goers will not need to stress about tedious long queues as the Ministry of Home Affairs has committed to speed things up at the popular Ngwenya Border Gate over this busy weekend.

As many have raised concerns for long queues that will be at border posts this coming weekend, since a high number of internationals will be coming into the country, mainly for the MTN BUSHFIRE festival weekend, the Ministry of Home Affairs has convinced many not to worry as they are ready to assist with the fast movement of queues.

Speaking to this publication, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Makhosi Simelane said they had enacted more work stations.
“We have even added the work force to decrease on waiting time in the queues. The more the work stations the more convenient the processes at the gates,” said Simelane.

However, he said operating times were not going to be extended in all the border posts in the country.
“We wish to extend the hours but this process entails a lot of detail which we cannot really tackle. It involves two parties from the countries,” he said.
He also said they were aware that this was one of the busiest weekends in the country.

Lenient

“This is why we will be a bit lenient during the clearing process after closing hours.
“If it happens a festival-goer is already in the country by closing time but has not stamped we will allow them to enter the country,” said Simelane.
“Be hospitable!”, said Eswatini Tourism Authority CEO Linda Nxumalo. She said this yesterday in an exclusive interview with this publication.

Nxumalo said it was fundamental for emaSwati to take care of tourist as it was a reflector of what the country was like.
“The MTN BUSHFIRE Festival attracts thousands of people and they are not only from Africa but they come from all over the world. These people will need assistance and it is important that we give it to them.

Respect

“EmaSwati should show respect and the country at large should be clean so to make the visitors come back again,” said Nxumalo.
She emphasised that emaSwati should be ready and avail their assistance where need be.

On another note, a warning was put out by Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, who also said this warning refers to everyone, especially tourists.

“Festival-goers ought to abide by the law!” Vilakati said.
She warned that police would be in search of any illegal activities this weekend, and this is not only around the festival arena but throughout the country.
“We will arrest anyone in possession of illegal drugs and weapons. People must abide by the law as we will not be lenient to tourists as well,” said Vilakati.
Vilakati also said it was highly advised that festival goers to carry themselves with respect.

“The arena will have respectable people like the ministers and we plead with attendees to be respectful,” she said.
Also, there will be no mercy to drunk drivers as they will face the law. People were advised to drive carefully and follow road rules.
