Nkully, Vumile and Khanyi did things differently as they spent their time with their children through a professional photo shoot. They said they valued the importance of celebrating motherhood and by extension Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring mothers and celebrating motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, yet most commonly in March, April, or May.

These working women shared the special snaps with their precious souls with STYLE.
Proud Mothers, who are they?

Nkully: Powerful mothers who have passed tests of sleepless nights, some are doctors and teachers every- day. They possess pure love and they give it to the world through their children.

Vumile: A proud mummy who enjoys spending quality time with her offspring, a love giver, protector and nurturer.

Khanyi: These are mothers, selfless beings, and protectors who put their children first. Sometimes you don’t even know if you doing things the right way, but thanks to God for his guidance.

What does Mother’s Day mean to you?
Nkully: Mother’s day is where we as mothers get to be celebrated for the effortless love and care that we give to our offspring 24/7. Basically it is celebrating the maternal bond. We spend so much time nurturing our children so this day is like a ‘seat back, chill let us spoil you day’ No one will ever love you as much as your mother does, as old as we are we always go back to our mothers and celebrate them as well.

Vumile: The gift of motherhood is by far the most special that God has given me. Being a mom means I have a mission to nurture, guide, teach and enjoy motherhood. Being a mother means I have to be a protector to my daughter and a friend. It means I have to work hard to make sure that she is equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to make it as a competent human being.

Khanyi: Mother’s day is when the world celebrates pure love. Endless love, we are reminded of the power of love to our children. How we work hard to equip them towards every sphere of love. Our job is the hardest and yet the most rewarding
Special moments with the kids…

Nkully: My best moment was hearing my son cry for the 1st time at the theatre. That’s when reality clicked that I am now a mother and someone is fully dependant on me. His needs come first now. I held my tears and gladly received him in my arms. My whole life took a U-turn.
Vumile: the minute I see my daughter’s face I am instantly happier, my stress just disappears. I was given such a great gift. It is a miracle that never stops amazing me and reminding me to give thanks every day.

Khanyi: When she smiles, giggles and asks mommy to buy this and that, I feel honoured to be her mum and I have a reason to celebrate make-believe characters like the tooth fairy and Easter bunny.

Goals as a mother…
Nkully: To be patient in every stage of his growth. Listen more than I judge, work extra hard to make his life 10 times better than mine.

Vumile: I want to always be there and assist her as she develops intellectually, socially and physically, and be the best mum.

Khanyi: As a mum I am always on duty, she is my priority, my goal is to be a better mum and teach her to become a strong joyful woman filled with God’s purpose.

What keeps you going?
Nkully: God is the source of my strength. He guides me first before I guide my sunshine. My mother also keeps me going. I also strive to be at least half the mother she is.

Vumile: Knowing that the most precious jewels I’ll ever have around my neck are the arms of my daughter.

Khanyi: When life gets hard and I feel all alone, I just remember that I mean the world to someone who calls me ‘mum’ my blessing.

Where and how will you be celebrating mother’s day?
Nkully: We will go to church and later have lunch at my mother’s place.

Khanyi: We will go to church and have a home cooked lunch with granny.

Vumile: We will be having lunch with the mother’s in my family.
