LISWATI ACTRESS BAGS ROLE ON HBO SERIES

MBABANE - The country seems to be fertile ground for birthing international material talent.


Eswatini-born actress Noma Dumezweni has been revealed as one of the cast members on an HBO series titled ‘The Undoing’ whereby she has been cast alongside award-winning actress Nicole Kidman.
She was revealed two days ago with other elite actors including Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland.
Dumezweni will be acting as Haley Gibson. However, her role  was not revealed in the synopsis of the series.


Dumezweni confirmed the news on her official social media pages, stating that she was excited.
“It’s Official...!!! No, Not kecking it at all… it’s that Swan feet life. And SUPER Excited,” read her post.
Dumezweni was congratulated by many fans and other actors on her new role on her post.


Kidman, who is an internationally celebrated actress, will be acting as successful therapist who has a devoted husband (Grant) and young son who attends an elite private school in New York City in the United States of America.
‘The Undoing’ is HBO’s high-profile six-episode limited series written by David E. Kelley and directed by Susanne Bier.

According to Hollywood TV, Dumezweni’s recent credits include Netflix film ‘The Boy Who Harnassed the Wind’, ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’, and Hugo Blick’s Netflix series titled ‘Black Earth Rising’. A two-time Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee, Dumezweni recently completed her run as Hermione Granger in Broadway’s Tony-winning ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘The Cursed Child’.


Meanwhile, Eswatini renowned actor Thembinkosi Mthethwa said such an achievement for a person who was born in the country should serve as a motivation to upcoming actors.


“Also, it is a fact that our industry generates more income outside our borders, I encourage local actors to grab opportunities of showcasing their talents outside the country,” said Mthethwa.


Dumezweni follows in the footsteps of Eswatini-born actor Richard E. Grant who recently begged a supporting role on ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me’ movie which made him a Golden Globe Awards awardee and an Oscar Nominee for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ role.
