HOW TO ‘QUEEN’!

Tips are taken from winners and STYLE is succumbing to this popular belief by the lengthy chat we had with Megasound Events PRO Zanele Thembekile Magongo, popularly known as TK.
Her looks are marvellously striking and her skin is to die for and because STYLE is all for queening, we were able to get tips on how other queens can queen.

Who is TK?
Zanele Thembekile Magongo, was born and raised in Motshane. I’m from a family of four siblings, two sisters and two brothers; I’m the middle baby. I did my primary at SOS, my high school at St Mark’s, and then went for Matric at Mathews Phosa College in Mpumalanga. I eventually completed a degree in Management and Communications at the University of KwaZulu Natal, Howard College...

Besides the physical appearance, what comprises a woman’s true beauty?
I really believe it’s a woman’s character, personality and a kind heart that makes her beautiful. Being compassionate, exuding confidence and caring about others tends to inadvertently make others feel good about themselves and I really think that’s a desirable trait. I also believe a woman’s smile makes her beautiful. Trust me, I could go on and on.

It is not secret that the skin makes up most of a woman’s physical beauty, what are your thoughts on that?
I’d hate for anyone to put limitations on someone’s physical beauty. The truth is a great skin makes us feel good about ourselves and we do look  beautiful. But as the cliché goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

You always have a radiant skin, what is your true secret (besides products)?
I stay HYDRATED. Water is very important for health reasons as well as the skin. I drink almost two litres of water a day. I also try not to be in the sun for long periods, we all know sun burn can cause tremendous damage to the skin. I also can’t stress this enough, I MOISTURISE. That should be second nature. Twice a day, especially before I sleep.

What products have you opened for your skin and how does they help?
I’m currently using Young Solution face wash and toner then I moisturise with marula oil from Swazi Secrets. It’s been working beautifully.

Please state the differences between synthetic and natural (herbal)  products. Which one should people, especially women?
Synthetic products are mostly manufactured in a lab and do not occur naturally while organic products occur naturally, it is worth noting, however, that it may not be 100 per cent organic sometimes because it may need to be tweaked a bit to add sun protection factor (SPF) so it’s important to check ingredients because some products may have allergens so it’s best to stay informed. I prefer organic, of course, because it’s less harsh on the skin so I’d say organic is best.

Which foundation boosts the skin instead of ‘wearing’ it off as per popular belief?
There are a number of leading brands out there, I’ve tried most. But I’ve been using MAC and Black Opal for two years now and I have to say I’m quite happy with the results.
You and Megasound, how did that happen?

Well, I was involved in a lot of event organising and marketing while I was in Durban, and fell in love with that. So when I came back home, I knew I wanted to continue in that industry, so Megasound Events just seemed like the perfect fit. I requested a meeting with its founders brought my resume and the rest is history.

Currently, what position do you hold and/or what are your duties?
Currently I’m co-PRO. My colleague and I are responsible for public relations. However, we learn a lot at Megasound so our founders try to give us responsibilities outside our scope so we learn more and broaden our mindset about the entertainment industry. Who knows, maybe you might start seeing me on the turn- tables this year (laughs).

How has it been working with them?
So far so good, we really work cohesively together and more than anything, treat each other like family. I’m really learning, a lot and certainly excited about the future of Megasound. Only great things to come, people should watch this space.
